English Picture Dictionary
The English Picture Dictionary was conceived by the Department of Education as a way to help ESL (English as a Second Language) students familiarise themselves visually with with words commonly used in the English language. I was commissioned to refresh the dictionary which had not been updated in 20 years.
The illustrations were done in coloured pencils and depict animals, objects, and activities as well as less tangible concepts such as directions and feelings. The intention with every step of the illustration and design of this project was towards the goal of creating a clear and engaging learning device for school students spanning from years K-12.
